We are currently hiring a Part-Time Personal Attendant to join our Helen Homes team located on the Hamilton Mountain!  

We are seeking emapthetic and compassionate individuals who are certified or non-certified PSWs. PSW experience is not required Capability will provide training! 

 

Capability Support Services is a not-for-profit organization operated by Thrive Group.  Thrive Group was created to bring like-minded organizations together to develop a broad range and continuum of services that enable clients to live fulfilling lives as independently as possible. 

This position provides support services to the residents of Helen Homes in the activities of daily living.  The personal support worker enhances the quality of life of residents by providing personal care, social development and assistance in directing self-care.  In addition, this position will provide an environment that will encourage the residents to develop to their fullest potential in all areas of life.

EMPLOYMENT GUIDE:

  • Prior experience or knowledge of providing support services for people with disabilities and/or seniors are an asset
  • Additional certification in personal support care, first aid, health care or other related qualification preferred.
  • Ability to empathize with people with physical and emotional needs is essential.
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements are required.
  • Must be able to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively are also essential.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English are requirements.
  • Able to communicate in other languages is an asset.
  • Must demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service and be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively.
  • Ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners are essential.
  • Must be able to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Reference Check is required.
  • A valid driving licence and reliable transportation may be a requirement for this position.
