Position Summary:
Working as part of the St. Peter's Residence leadership team, this position is responsible for the design, implementation and delivery of clinical and therapeutic services. Provides direct counselling, intake assessments, family assessments, and advocacy in accordance with resident care plans for St. Peter's Residence. Delivers resident, caregiver and employee education initiatives. The position provides clinical and therapeutic leadership to the St. Peter's Residence staff team and ensures the implementation of best practice approaches, fostering a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration and cooperation. In addition, the position works in collaboration with the Administrator and leadership team to ensure streamlining and coordinating of how therapeutic and clinical services are designed, implemented and delivered. In addition, the position provides clinical supervision to social work and social service staff and students.
Employment Guide:
- A Master of Social work or related discipline, along with a minimum three years of practice in a social work role or a combination of education and experience are requirements for this position.
- Current registration in good standing with the OCSW&SSW without terms, limits or conditions. An asset to be registered with the Ontario Association of Social Workers, and to have acquired PIECES training and Dementia Ability Montessori based principles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial theories, family dynamics, conflict resolution and mediation, aging processes, behaviour management techniques and ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
- Prior leadership experience in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care preferred. Ability to work within legislation pertinent to the operations of a health care facility including but not limited to, such Acts as Public Health, Mental Health, Resident’s Protection and the Long-Term Care Homes Act.
- Proven ability to coach and train others and demonstrate a passion for engaging employees and promoting a supportive and productive work culture.
- Must demonstrate approachable, and professional demeanour and have a sound understanding and empathy for the needs of seniors and their families.
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential along with ability to integrate good human relationship skills and professional standards into resident-centric practice.
- Must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- This position requires successful completion of a vulnerable sector police check and medical. A current Ontario driving lisence and reliable vehicle are also requirements of this position.
Job Type: Temporary, full-time. 37.5 hours per week
