POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, this position delivers safe, evidence-based Falls Prevention programming to seniors in the community. This position assists in building and maintaining the Falls Prevention program manual, reviewing and making revisions as necessary. The Program Instructor assists seniors through the exercise program, through motivation, demonstrating modified options, and monitoring to ensure participants are safe. This position is responsible for reporting on Key Performance Indicators and participant outcome measures, as well at quarterly attendance reports. The Program Instructor works collaboratively with point-persons at designated host locations to promote the program and encourage participation.

EMPLOYMENT GUIDE:

  • Degree in Kinesiology, Occupational Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapist Assistant preferred.
  • Must have a Valid Ontario Drivers license and available vehicle for use.
  • CPR certified.
  • Must have proven ability in leadership and instruction to deliver programming in small groups.
  • Must be customer-centered, patient, empathetic and have a genuine interest in working with the senior's population.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to inspire and engage program participants, adjusting the program to suit participants’ goals and needs.
  • Must complete a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Search and medical.
