We are currently hiring 1 Temporary Full Time Registered Practical Nurse to join our AbleLiving Services team at our transitional care bed program located in Paris, Ontario!

This position is a Temporary 5 month contract with the possibility of extension. 

AbleLiving Services is a non-profit organization providing personal support services to adults with disabilities living within their own home or one of our independent living facilities. Our clients direct and customize the services they receive and we support them to maximize their independence and enhance their quality of life. We provide services across the Golden Horseshoe in the Mississauga, Burlington, Stoney Creek, Brant County, and Hamilton communities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position is responsible for monitoring the health status of persons with disabilities and the senior population. Provide nursing services within defined scope of practice. Monitor the building to ensure the security and safetly of clients, staff and guests; and take appropriate action in an emergency situation. 

RPNs must also be available for rotating days and nights, 12 hour shifts

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a vocational, college or other approved program for licensed practical nurses and registration with a regulatory body required.  
  • Must have successfully completed the Canadian Practical Nurses Registration Examination and possess a current Registered Nursing Certificate of Competence for the Province of Ontario.
  • Knowledge of Behaviour Strategies is an asset.
  • Experience as an RPN working with persons with a disability and the senior population is an asset. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use tact and discretion and display professionalism at all times; demonstrate sound judgment and flexibility and be able to solve problems effectively.
  • Certification in health and safety and first aid is considered an asset. 
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job such as lifting and transferring of residents.
