We are currently hiring a Part Time Personal Support Aide to join our AbleLiving transitional care bed programs in Hagersville at Anson Place. Our transitional care bed program includes 20 beds dedicated to individuals transitioning from hospital to the long-term care or back into the community.

Personal Support Aide 

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for regular monitoring and provision of support to clients to enable them to live as independently as possible.  Duties include monitoring, observing, assisting with and participating in housekeeping and homemaking activities, recreational and social activities.  This includes but is not limited to:

·       Housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning showers, sinks and toilets in both common areas and client rooms. 

·       Laundry including washing, drying, folding, ironing and putting laundry away.

·       Making beds and changing linens as required.

·       Assisting Recreation staff with social and recreational activities with clients such as accompanies clients on walks and other social outings.

·       Supporting clients with personal care activities, including lifting and transferring clients (training provided).

Employment Requirements:

  • Some high school education.  Prior experience or knowledge of providing support services for people with disabilities and/or seniors an asset. 
  • Ability to empathize with people with physical and emotional needs is essential.   
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements are required.
  • Must be able to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority. 
  • Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively are also essential.   
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English are required. 
  • Must demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service and be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively. 
  • Ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners are essential. 
  • Must be able to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team
