We are seeking a Full-Time Social Service Worker to join our Bethany Residence program in Burlington!

Position Summary:
Working under the direction of the Manager or delegate, this position is responsible for the design, implementation, and delivery of Social Work services across Thrive Group Community Services locations (Community Services). Provides direct counselling, intake and other relevant assessments, advocacy with diverse populations and supports the development and monitoring of client care plans. This position includes supporting clients with a variety of physical and psycho-social conditions inclusive of mental health concerns, system navigation challenges, those marginalized and vulnerable, living in the community and addressing social determinants of health. This position includes delivering client, caregiver and employee education initiatives. The position provides clinical and therapeutic leadership to the Thrive Group Community Services teams and programs and ensures the implementation of best practice approaches, fostering a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration, and cooperation. Additionally, the position works in collaboration with the Community Services senior leadership team and is part of a Community of Practice within Thrive Group to ensure streamlining and coordinating of therapeutic and clinical services design and how they are implemented and delivered.
Employment Guide:
- At minimum, a Bachelor’s of Social work, Psychotherapy or related discipline, along with 2-3 years of practice in a social work role or a combination of education and experience are requirements for this position.
- Current registration in good standing with the OCSW&SSW without terms, limits or conditions.
- An asset to be registered with the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
- Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial theories, family dynamics, conflict resolution and mediation, aging processes, behaviour management techniques and system barriers
- Must demonstrate approachable, and professional demeanour and have a sound understanding and empathy for the needs of diverse populations in the community
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential along with ability to integrate good human relationship skills and professional standards into client-centric practice.
- Must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills and ability to work in collaboration within an interdisciplinary team as well as work independently
- Strong understanding of the Housing First philosophy and extensive knowledge of the unhoused population.
- Experience in harm reduction best practices and overdose prevention.
- Trauma-Informed training and experience.
- Confidence and experience in crisis intervention, mediation and de-escalation including non-violent crisis/suicide intervention skills.
- Working knowledge of the justice system.
- Experience with the LOCUS / OCAN / VI-SPDAT assessments is an asset.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Soft 365 programs, Alayacare, Point Click Care and the RAI Suite of Tools is an asset.
- A valid driver’s license is required as well as successful completion of a vulnerable sector police check.
- Current First Aid & CPR certification, Naloxone and ASIST training is an asset.
